Ambleside Internships
Ambleside is pleased to offer three-day internships for those seeking focused observation
and practical instruction in an applied philosophy of education. Over 100 interns have
participated in our program in the past four years.
Parents, teachers, and administrators who are interested in becoming equipped to apply
Charlotte Mason's philosophy in teaching are invited to Fredericksburg, Texas, to observe
classes at Ambleside School, study with Ambleside faculty, and meet with our families.
Interns engage in readings and discussion, observe and participate in classes, and receive
individual direction and instruction in the following areas:
The practice of narration as
a primary methodology in its various forms-whole class, individual, small group, student
pairs, written and oral, picture study and nature study-and its variations according to
students' abilities and grade levels, its use with living books and living things, and
with particular subjects ranging from literature to mathematics.
The practice of recovering
and enlisting the will of the student in the establishment of moral and intellectual
habits in the study of both disciplinary and inspirational subjects.
The cultivation of a
person-honoring atmosphere in the school's physical and relational environments.
