Ambleside School of Fredericksburg sees teachers, school leaders, and support staff as profoundly important people in the lives of children and the adults those children become, thus the spiritual, emotional, physical, and intellectual health of our teaching and administrative staff is vital to the fulfillment of our mission. To support this belief, Ambleside ensures that teachers are provided a rich and varied curriculum, small and manageable classes, in-service days dedicated to prayer, spiritual development, and training in our educational methods and philosophy, and a strong and supportive relationship with parents.

  • Position Summary: As a growing, vibrant community, Ambleside is currently seeking candidates to apply for a new, Upper School Principal position. Candidates must be faithful followers of Jesus, be in agreement with the Nicene Creed, humbly love learning, possess the authority and resiliency of a leader, and have an intimate knowledge of Charlotte Mason’s philosophy and method of education. Candidates must be willing and eager to live in community by leading with gratitude, making and keeping commitments, being honest and always hospitable. Candidates must also possess at least a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university. A graduate degree is preferred.  

    Schedule: Ambleside administrators have a full work-week, Monday through Friday, from 7:40 - 4:30, and until 5:00 one afternoon per week for staff meetings. The Assistant Principal will also work extra hours during after-hours school events. The Assistant Principal will work on a 12-month schedule, with scheduled time off during the summer and additional time off during school holidays throughout the year.

  • Overview

To support this belief, Ambleside ensures that teachers are provided a rich and varied curriculum, small and manageable classes, in-service days dedicated to prayer, spiritual development, and training in our educational methods and philosophy, and a strong and supportive relationship with parents. 

    Ambleside applies a philosophy and method of education inspired by Charlotte Mason that has been time-tested for over 100 years. Teachers are instructed and supported with this foundational educational method ensuring each classroom carries out the philosophy with consistency. 

    Position Summary: Lead teachers at Ambleside are the relational center of the grade-level classroom with no more than 16 students. Lead teachers must be well-rounded, curious, people who desire to learn and grow in their craft as a teacher as well as a person who appreciates the diverse range of ideas that permeate the classroom. 

    Requirements: Candidates must be willing and eager to live in community by leading with gratitude, making and keeping commitments, being honest and always hospitable. Teaching at Ambleside requires a heart for guiding students towards that which is good, true, and beautiful, a commitment to learn and practice our teaching methods, and a level of academic curiosity that translates positively to students. Additionally, all Ambleside teachers must agree to the school’s statement of faith, code of personal conduct, and possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university. 

    Schedule: Ambleside teachers have a full work-week, Monday through Friday, from 7:40 - 4:00, and until 5:00 one afternoon per week. Teachers must also be available for occasional evening and weekend campus and community events.

    Salary: Ambleside’s base teacher salary is $46,000. Relevant experience will be considered in determining appropriate compensation.
